SURGICAL INTERVENTIONS

0.GENERAL ASPECTS

The surgical procedure in constructing female genitals in an anatomically male transsexual should be undertaken in a single stage. It should produce a vagina that is adequate for sexual relations and have an appearance almost impossible to differentiate from that of a genetically normal woman

Over the years, ever since the first transsexual surgery was published in 1953 (Hamburger et al). various surgical techniques have been described and carried out.

We follow an American technique developed by several authors such as Granato (1974), Malloy et al. (1976), etc., that we ourselves have modified after many years' experience.

No surgical intervention can be free of risk. Thus, when operating, we face general surgical risks plus those related to the intervention itself and the specific risks of each patient. We will give you detailed information about these issues at our Centre.
